Create A Castle molds give families a fun, successful and frustration-free way of building elaborate castles, towers and whatever else you can dream up, in the sand or snow! All without struggling to use the traditional one dimensional sand molds and builds can be done quickly! The concept for Create A Castle came to founder Kevin Lane during a 2016 vacation at Laguna Beach, California, After watching a dad and his young son struggle unsuccessfully to finish their castle, this web developer and super fan of castle building, started mulling over ideas to develop a more efficient and less time consuming way to construct imaginative sand creations.Kevin realized that building an ornate castle with a shovel, a 5 gallon bucket and a couple of basic tools took far too long to keep the attention of any child. What if a bucket was pre-molded with a detailed brick pattern? What if you filled it with sand from the top instead of the bottom? What if you simply split the mold apart instead of lifting it? What if it was all packaged up and easy to transport due to its split mold, patent pending stackable system? After combining all of these ideas, Create A Castle became a reality.

Kevin Lane, Create A Castle, award winning toy for sand and snow.
I’m here with Kevin Lane, the founder and owner of Create A Castle. Who would have thought sandcastles could have a whole new industry spring up around them?
Yes, we’ve invented a brand-new way to build sand and snow castles with your family. It’s full year-round fun for a family and we basically took the struggle out of lifting; we fill these cylinders upside down, right side up, and split them instead. And it comes with really fancy tools like window cutters, brick makers, you dream it you can build it with Create A Castle in the sand or the snow.
And one thing I love about it is you have little fairy lights that go you with it. You have a lot of accessories now.
Yes, so we sell light kits, we’re starting to work on some add-ons for the product, as we’ve been around for a couple years now and we’ve become more and more established as time goes on and some big things are happening. So it’s been a lot of fun.
Who’s using your product?
You know, kids from six years old to adults, all the way to a hundred years old, there is no age limit. It could be fun for an individual, it could be fun for a child, you know the kids will just pick up this one tool right here, this is our multi-tool that comes with all of our kits, it has a scoop on one end as you can see, and a little pull plow here on the front. It just lets them scrape and play in the sand and have tons of fun, dig moats, build bridges, anything they dream up. So really any age, there is no age limitation on this product, that’s the beauty of it.
You’re selling quite a few of these right now through a number of different sources. They’re on Amazon and they’re on your website CreateACastle.com and you have some plans that you can’t reveal right now. Why do you think they’re so popular with people?
I think sandcastles are one of those things that families always aspire to really build a better sandcastle, and now the snow as well, this kind of takes it to the next level. It really kind of opens up your imagination. We have video tutorials that make it really easy for families to learn how to use it, you know it’s a brand new way to do it, it’s different sand consistency. If you can’t stack what you see right here on this castle you can use the parts independently. We sell smaller kits that range from $19.99 and all the way to $49.99 so that’s I think why it’s done so well, is because of the history of sandcastles, the long history in this country. Everybody every summer wants to build a sandcastle, and also the price points. There are affordable models that we have all the way up to the higher-end models.
So what’s the biggest one you’ve ever done?
The biggest one I ever built was in the snow. Snow you can stack a lot higher because it’s very moldable. That was in St. Paul Minnesota, in the city, and it was close to 18 feet tall climbing up there.
Wow! So we’re filming this during quarantine unfortunately and the beaches have been closed, but now they’re open again but people still have to social distance. So how do you see people using this to help them social distance and still have fun?
I mean it’s just like families being at home. You know the family goes to the beach, they can all engage, they can have fun together, make memories. You know if you’re on the beach like you said, social distancing is still going to be important for a while here but I think if you’re as a family on a beach just play like you would just at home. But you’re on a beach, you have a giant canvas to use now so it’s fun, it’s just old-fashioned fun for everybody and that’s the beauty of this product and I think that’s where everybody’s falling in love with it.
Yes, and where can people find you?
CreateACastle.com obviously. CreateACastle.com. Our handles on all of the social media accounts that we have are just Create A Castle and we are sold on Walmart.com, Amazon.com, Amazon Prime, BarnesandNoble.com, and we’re coming into a bunch more catalogues. Fat Brain Toys is another big one so we’re pretty accessible, we have that all listed up on our website.
Great, so if you want to have fun in the summer and make it easy to have fun, even the littlest kids can use this and build a sandcastle. So if you’re like I was, the baby of the family and everybody else does everything better, you could be just as good.
That’s absolutely the beauty of it and you know the parents, cuz let’s face it, half the time when you see families on the beach what do you normally see? You see the mom or the dad building with the kids so the parents are going to feel like rock stars with these cylinders. Because I mean people will come up to you, want to take photos with your castles that you’re building. Wow instant popularity!
Great thank you Kevin and I look forward to seeing lots of these on the beach this summer!
Thank you, we appreciate you guys doing this for us.
