Elizabeth Gearhart here with Robin Hoy and PuroClean. Hi Robin what do you do?
Hi. I own a restoration company which is a fire, water, mold and biohazard remediation company.
So you go into people’s houses and clean up their dirty stinking messes?
Yes we do. Yes.
What a lovely job! What kind of messes do you do?
So we do a lot of water damage restoration, so if you’re standing in two feet of water you give us a call, we can pump out all the water and we can clean and dry the structure. Even sewage losses, those are really disgusting, the smell that permeates throughout your house, so we can clean those up. We do a lot of fire damage too, fire damage including cigarette smoke. If there’s been a smoker in the family and all the walls are yellow we can actually clean that up. I know a lot of people who are stuck in their houses right now are cooking a lot so, we can do a lot of kitchen fire cleanup. They do call me the Cajun Cook at home, not because I like spicy food, but because I am multitasking and leave stuff to burn!
How long does it take you to get to someone’s house, if somebody is standing there and they’ve got some sort of weird mess? Is it like a day’s response, an hour?
We’re on a lot of actually insurance program work and we’re actually required to be there within four hours, so depending on how far you’re located and for us to get the trucks all prepared and then show up at your house or commercial building it’s usually under four hours.
Well that’s nice and so you do residential do you do, commercial as well?
Yes and we do a lot of commercial cleaning fire jobs. We actually save a lot of commercial businesses because if they’ve had a fire job, like one time we were at a fire job at 11 o’clock at night, the business had some water damage because of all the firefighters spraying water to put out the fire. The commercial business was able actually to open the next morning. We can save their hardwood floors and we set up all the drying, and they were able to actually be open.
That’s really great.
What’s your territory, how far do you go?
Our office is located in Union County so we’ll travel anywhere an hour outside of that.
Okay and what if somebody in New York was watching this and wanted to have PuroClean?
There’s actually a PuroClean franchise so there’s offices that are located in New York. Our company does not go there, they have different insurance requirements so we just made the decision not to travel to New York City.
So you do work with the insurance companies. That’s interesting. So people don’t have to hand you a check to get you to come and do the work it goes through the insurance.
Yes. So once we know the carrier, we work with all different insurance companies, we can send them the bill directly and then we work out payment with them. Sometimes they do send the homeowner the check, or it might be a two-party check, or send it directly to us. Every insurance carrier is a little bit different, but mostly they would just be out their deductible for insurance.
Okay so that’s good to know, so if somebody has an emergency they can call you, you can be there in four hours, you’ll bill the insurance company, and it sounds like a really great way to operate. It sounds like PuroClean is a really good company.
Yes, we’ve helped out a lot of people and we have a lot of great reviews, we have a lot of great relationships. Hopefully if we do see you we won’t see you again, but we’ve actually had a couple people that we’ve seen four or so times, which is not great for them. We kind of hate it when we pick up the phone and we hear their voice again, and we’re like oh no, not another, you know flood or a fire damage or what have you. But these relationships are really great we really enjoy our customers and we really feel like we’re providing a great service to them.
Great, is there anything else people should know about PuroClean?
Just give us a call!
