I’m here with Audrey Tesora who takes people from chaos to order in a very compassionate way. Audrey how do you do that?

Well every situation is different, everyone’s life circumstances and personal belongings are different, so when you walk into their home there is a process for each situation, and that’s what I do by getting to know the person. People are very attached to their stuff so I try to walk them through a process of parting with items which are no longer serving them . So for people who are downsizing, seniors who are leaving their homes of 40 years or more, they’re very attached to their belongings. But many times those belongings are no longer serving them, so there’s a process, it’s half therapy and half tough love, but in a nice kind gentle way we go through a process of going through each of their items and deciding what to keep, what to donate, to toss, recycle, and save. My services are conscious concierge style where, when you hire me, I will go from steps a-to-z, and get you all the vendors that you need to make your move during your life transition as seamless as possible. So you come to me, we have a consultation, I sit with you and devise a plan, and we go step by step until we get you to the final outcome that you’d like to get to. When you hire me it’s a one-stop shop.

I don’t think many people offer that. So if you need handymen, movers, painters, estate sale, junk haulers, any of those types of services, I arrange for those. I will even go out and get you your supplies. I can handle the paperwork for you. I also specialize in doing home offices and other residential types of organizing. I will come in and work with closet designers to design a closet which meets your needs for the way you’re living today.

You’re an organizer and part of the organizing is that you help people part with things that no longer bring them joy or serve their purpose. What I’m also hearing about your business is that if somebody gets notice like ‘guess what? we’re moving’ or we’re downsizing or whatever, and all of a sudden there’s a zillion things to do, they can come to you and you help them with those zillion things.

That’s correct. I’ll keep them on track, on point ,and on time, because I come to it with an approach that it’s very easy for me to do this, and for other people it’s not so easy. It becomes overwhelming, especially when you’ve been in your home for a very long time and you do have a lot of items in your home. So we go room by room, we go step by step, we go through paperwork if that’s what’s needed to be done, we get the storage if that’s what’s needed to be done. So it’s a process and every everyone’s situation is different. I am very calm and compassionate with you and it’s all judgment free. I’ve seen it all and there’s no need to be embarrassed. Sometimes people are embarrassed maybe or a little ashamed of all the stuff that they have but it’s nothing to be ashamed of. This is a time in your life when you’re moving forward, you’re making progress, it’s a new chapter. You’re going on to something new, so it’s all good.

Sometimes it just takes somebody to ask you the question, do you really need this? And say ‘I can find a good home for it’. I think that’s important too.

Yes I can find a good home. And also I find that when I do go into people’s homes and businesses when they see me there, all of a sudden I become this accountability partner and it’s easier for them. They have this second pair of eyes and I think they’re looking at it differently and asking themselves why they’re keeping it. I’ve had that happen where people say I don’t need that anymore, we can get rid of that. I often don’t even say much then sometimes I prod them a little bit, asking ‘do you really need five of those?’ and that’s how I work with people and it’s a lot of fun. I’ve had people tell me that I made it fun, so that’s very rewarding.

And during these times of quarantine and isolation you can help people remotely right?

That is correct. I can get on FaceTime with you and we can go room by room. I can also, if you’d prefer, make a plan for you. We can talk about your situation, you can send me some pictures, and then I can work up a plan, a written plan for you. If you don’t want me to come into your home, we can do this virtually and I can send that to you. Then I’m available for consultation and suggestions.

Well that sounds wonderful.
